About PRP Therapy

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy is a minimally invasive treatment option utilizing the body's own blood to regenerate new cellular growth and assist with healing.  It has been discovered to have cosmetic benefits as well.    Wellness by Design offers a range of PRP therapies for adults who want results without the risks of surgery. Victor Zuniga, MD, and his medical team use PRP from your blood to stimulate hair restoration, rejuvenate facial skin, improve sexual satisfaction in men and women, improve urinary incontinence in women, and treat many forms of joint and tendon problems.  Call the Shelby, North Carolina, office today to schedule a PRP therapy consultation. PRP Therapy Q&A

What is PRP therapy?

PRP therapy uses substances from your body to help you look and feel your best without surgery and invasive procedures.

PRP is in your blood and contains essential growth factors that stimulate your body to produce healthy, new cells. The new cells replace those damaged by injury, disease, and environmental toxins.

Wellness by Design specializes in PRP therapy for adults. Dr. Zuniga uses PRP for medical and aesthetic treatments, and tailors a minimally invasive PRP therapy plan to achieve wellness and cosmetic goals.

Which PRP therapies are available?

Wellness by Design uses PRP for treatments like:

Hair Restoration

Injections of PRP into inactive hair follicles stimulate the growth of thicker, healthier hair in men and women.

Under-eye rejuvenation

PRP’s growth factors trigger new collagen growth to treat under-eye bags, dark circles, and fine lines, providing a more youthful appearance.

Scar and stretch mark therapy

PRP injections support new collagen to smooth your skin and make surgical or acne scar tissue and stretch marks less noticeable. PRP enhances skin texture and tone.

Breast lift

A PRP breast lift is a nonsurgical treatment to improve the appearance of your breasts. PRP injections smooth out lines and wrinkles while enhancing breast tissue fullness.

Facial

Injections of PRP into your upper and lower face rejuvenate your skin and restore a youthful appearance.

Dr. Zuniga uses PRP during microneedling, a minimally invasive treatment that creates microwounds in your face, with an instrument that triggers your body’s natural healing response to revitalize your skin.

Sexual wellness

The O-SHOT® for women and the P-SHOT® for men are injectable PRP therapies that stimulate new cell growth to improve sexual satisfaction.

Urinary Incontinence

PRP therapy can drastically improve symptoms for women who suffer from stress incontinence.

Joint and Tendon problems

Dr Zuniga and his staff utilize Ultrasound guided PRP techniques to improve the lives of individuals suffering from a variety of joint and tendon disorders.  Examples include:  knee arthritis, shoulder/hip bursitis and tendonopathies, golfer's and tennis elbow, achilles tendonitis, and plantar fascitis.

What can I expect during PRP therapy?

The therapies available at Wellness by Design use PRP extracted from your blood. Dr. Zuniga and his team draw a blood sample and use a centrifuge to separate PRP from other blood materials.

The resulting high concentration of PRP gets injected into the treatment area. Dr. Zuniga can apply a numbing cream over the injection sites to ensure your comfortable treatment.

PRP therapy doesn’t provide immediate results because it takes time for new cells to grow. Depending on the nature of your treatment, it can take up to a month to see the benefits.
